Messachie Lake

Messachie Lake

Messachie Lake is one of those charming little lakes that you drive past and think, that looks interesting, but never quite get around to actually visiting. Last summer (Aug 7, 2017) I finally got around to paddling Messachie Lake, and I’m glad I did. It took some sleuthing but I finally found a public access point off Terann Rd. which is a rutted dirt road ending in a short trail that gives onto a small beach, right beside Camp Imadene. We spent just under two hours exploring the lake and looking for spot to swim. There’s a little beach where a creek empties into the lake at the east end and several rocky outcrops along the North shore that would make good swimming/picnicking sites. When we’d done, we headed over to nearby Bear Lake which leads into the South arm of Cowichan Lake, but I’ll leave that trip for another day.
